Frequently Asked Questions
Everything students and parents ask us about studying MBBS abroad.
Is NEET qualification mandatory for studying MBBS abroad?
Yes. As per NMC regulations, Indian students must qualify NEET-UG in the year of admission (or hold a valid score) to be eligible for foreign medical education that leads to practice in India. NEET is also required for obtaining the eligibility certificate equivalent.
Are foreign MBBS degrees recognized in India?
Degrees from universities listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and meeting NMC requirements are recognized. After completing MBBS abroad, you must clear the FMGE/NExT exam to obtain a license to practice in India. All universities we recommend are NMC-compliant.
What is the total cost of studying MBBS abroad?
It varies by country. Tuition typically ranges from βΉ2.5β6 lakh per year in countries like Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, and βΉ6β10 lakh per year in Georgia or Bangladesh. Including hostel and living expenses, the total 6-year budget usually falls between βΉ20β60 lakh β far below Indian private medical colleges.
Is the medium of instruction English?
Yes β all universities we work with teach the MBBS program in English. Some countries add local-language classes to help students interact with patients during clinical rotations, which is an advantage, not a barrier.
What documents are required for admission?
Class 10 and 12 marksheets and certificates, NEET scorecard, passport (valid for at least 18 months), passport-size photographs, birth certificate, and a medical fitness certificate. For students under 18, a parental consent letter is needed. We handle apostille and notarization for you.
How long does the visa process take?
Student visa processing typically takes 2β6 weeks depending on the country and embassy workload. Our visa team prepares your complete file, conducts a mock interview, and tracks your application until approval β our success rate is 99%.
Are hostels and Indian food available?
Yes. All our partner universities offer on-campus hostels with separate arrangements for male and female students. Indian and vegetarian food options are available either in university messes or nearby Indian restaurants and tiffin services.
Is it safe for Indian students, especially girls, to study abroad?
The countries we recommend β Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Nepal, Bangladesh β host large Indian student communities and have university security, guarded hostels and warden supervision. Thousands of Indian students, including young women, study there safely today.
Can I practise in India after MBBS abroad?
Yes β clear the FMGE/NExT exam after graduation, complete the required internship, and register with the State Medical Council or NMC. Our students consistently perform well in FMGE because we guide university selection with exam outcomes in mind.
What is FMGE / NExT?
The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), being replaced by the National Exit Test (NExT), is the screening test that foreign medical graduates must clear to practise or pursue PG in India. It tests the same MBBS curriculum taught abroad.
Can I do PG (MD/MS) in India or abroad after MBBS abroad?
Yes. After clearing FMGE/NExT, you can appear for NEET-PG in India. Many students also pursue PG in the USA (USMLE), Germany, or the same country β we counsel you on all paths during your final year.
When should I start the admission process?
Ideally right after your NEET results. Seats in top universities close by JulyβSeptember for the September intake. Starting early also gives you time for passport, apostille and visa without rush.
How do I know a university is genuine?
Check WDOMS listing, NMC compliance, ECFMG recognition, and the university's actual ranking. We share verifiable documents for every university we recommend β including recognition letters and fee structures signed by the university β before you pay anything.
Do you charge for counselling?
No. Counselling by HBR Global Meditech is completely free. Our service fee applies only when you confirm admission through us, and it is transparently disclosed upfront in writing.
